About residencies.
Lonely Company provide peer-to-peer support through annual Playwriting Residencies. We select three playwrights per year. Each playwright is paired with a Lonely Company dramaturge for monthly meetings, and is given the option of two days free studio space a week.
Lonely Company supports the existing practice of playwrights. Resident playwrights set the goals of their residency and their preferred method of dramaturgy.
We encourage our playwrights to attend: Beta Fest, readings, workshops and Brechtfast Club (a performance theory book club). These activities create a writing community founded on generosity and support.
Apply to work with us.
Lonely Company welcome applications for new Playwrights in Residents every December. We assess applications based on the following criteria:
Does the playwright need support?
Are we the people to provide that support?
Do the ideas in the application excite us?
We do not read plays submitted by applicants, and do not assess the quality of the writing. Our subjective opinions on style and form are just that – subjective – and do not have a place in our assessment process.
We announce when application are open through our Facebook page, website, and e-newsletter. Follow us on one of those places to stay informed!
